Walgreen To Issue Refunds Over ‘Free’ Flu Shot Advertising

Law360, Washington (October 15, 2012, 6:13 PM EDT) -- Walgreen Co. has agreed to reimburse more than 3,000 New York state employees after it falsely advertised its flu shots would be covered by the state’s health plan, the New York attorney general said Monday.

Since August 2010, Walgreen allegedly misled consumers by claiming the state's Empire health plan — which insures more than 2.5 million state workers, retirees and dependents — would cover flu shots administered at Walgreens pharmacies, although the plan only covers flu shots given in physicians' offices.
