Highmark Partners With Pa. Hospital In $65M Investment Deal

Law360, New York (October 16, 2012, 11:50 PM EDT) -- Pittsburgh-based health insurer Highmark Inc. has pledged $65 million in investments for Saint Vincent Health System, the companies said Tuesday, although the impact of the deal on the insurer's tortuous merger talks with West Penn Allegheny Health System remains unclear. 

Highmark's affiliation agreement with Saint Vincent includes a $20 million cash investment to help the Erie, Pa., hospital's finances as well as $5 million for projects at the hospital, according to a statement by the companies. The deal also invests more than $40 million in infrastructure...
