2nd Circ. Backs Bag Handler's $48M Win Over AA, Tractor Co.

Law360, New York (October 17, 2012, 7:10 PM EDT) -- A New York baggage handler paralyzed by his baggage tractor can keep a $48.3 million verdict he won against American Airlines Inc. and tractor manufacturer Stewart & Stevenson Services Inc., the Second Circuit ruled Wednesday.

The appeals court rejected arguments that the companies were not at fault for injuries to Vito Saladino, whose arms and legs were paralyzed after jet exhaust unlocked the hood of his baggage tractor so that it flipped around and hit him in the head.

Saladino might have survived the 1999 incident...
