ITC Will Probe LSI, Seagate Over Hard Drive, Chip Imports

Law360, New York (October 18, 2012, 4:07 PM EDT) -- The U.S. International Trade Commission voted Thursday to launch an investigation into Realtek Semiconductor Corp.'s claims that LSI Corp. and Seagate Technology LLC have been importing integrated circuit chips that infringe two patents covering circuit technology.

Taiwan-based Realtek said its Sept. 19 complaint that LSI and Seagate have been selling imported hard drives, data storage systems, servers and other computing products made with chips that incorporate Realtek's patented components, called bond pad structures and level shifter circuitry.
