TVA Submits Nuclear Power Plant Application To NRC

Law360, New York (October 30, 2007, 12:00 AM EDT) -- The nation’s largest public power utility, the Tennessee Valley Authority, submitted a completed application to the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission Tuesday, seeking approval to build two new nuclear reactors in Alabama.

The application is the second of a flood of combined Construction and Operating License (COL) submissions anticipated by the NRC and the energy community. Last month, NRG Energy Inc. made history when it submitted the first full application for a new nuclear plant in almost 30 years.
