PepsiCo, Suntory Joining Forces In Vietnam Bottling Biz

Law360, New York (October 23, 2012, 12:07 PM EDT) -- PepsiCo will split off a piece of its Vietnam business to form a joint venture with Japanese beverage company Suntory Holdings Ltd., the companies said Tuesday, the latest deal in Asia’s buzzing beverage industry.

Under the deal’s terms, PepsiCo will hang onto a 49 percent stake in the business while Suntory overtakes majority ownership. The shared venture will be both companies’ Vietnam-based bottler. PepsiCo’s Vietnamese snack business, which includes the Poca brand, is untouched by the transaction.
