Pharmacists Push Pa. Gov. To Sign Pharmacy Choice Bill

Law360, Philadelphia (October 23, 2012, 8:01 PM EDT) -- The National Community Pharmacists Association urged Pennsylvania Gov. Tom Corbett to sign legislation aimed at allowing local pharmacies to better compete with mail-order pharmacies, the group announced Monday.

A spokeswoman for the governor said Tuesday that he would most likely sign the bill, which would require health insurance companies, Blue Cross and Blue Shield plans, and government-sponsored pharmacy benefit programs to allow patients to use retail community pharmacies, as long as the pharmacies adopt the same pricing standards set by their mail-order competitors.
