Texas Watchdog Wants Pension Data On Ex-Lawmaker Lobbyists

Law360, Houston (October 23, 2012, 7:01 PM EDT) -- A Texas government watchdog on Tuesday launched a suit seeking to force the state to disclose the amount of taxpayer-funded pension money paid to former lawmakers who now serve as lobbyists for major corporations and public interest groups, arguing its request doesn't violate state privacy law.

Texans for Public Justice asked the court to force the Texas Comptroller for Public Accounts and the Employees Retirement System of Texas to reveal the aggregate figure of pension payments to “revolving-door lobbyists,” despite the state's privacy objections.
