Atty Relationships Drive Hiring Decisions, GCs Say

Law360, New York (October 25, 2012, 6:46 PM EDT) -- When choosing outside counsel, general counsel said Thursday that they make the decision based on the individual lawyer rather than the firm, saying that first impressions, quality relationships and professional courtesy matter more than the bottom line.

As corporate counsel work to bring more and more work in-house, it is critical for outside counsel to invest the time into building relationships to avoid having their services cut, a panel of general counsel said Thursday during a Legal Marketing Association seminar.
