China Updates Food Safety Regulations

Law360, New York (October 31, 2007, 12:00 AM EDT) -- The Chinese government on Wednesday gave its approval to new legislation aimed at raising national standards in food production, after a string of food-related scandals earlier this year raised international and local concerns about Chinese food safety.

The new draft law will address “weak points” in food production, processing, delivery, storage and sales. Previously, there had been no single law covering food production in China.
