In Search Of Google's Red Herrings

Law360, New York (October 30, 2012, 5:13 PM EDT) -- The Federal Trade Commission is nearing the end of its long investigation of Google. Will the FTC sue Google, charging it is a monopoly? Maybe, since Google has been dubbed "the Microsoft of the 21st Century." Will the FTC and Google negotiate a settlement? Maybe, since Google and the European competition authorities apparently are pretty far along in settlement talks. Will the FTC simply decide to fold its tent and do nothing? Maybe, if the FTC hasn't focused on the right things, doesn't think it has a case it can win, or decides simply to defer to the Europeans as it recently did in the Universal/EMI music merger....
