CBS, Paramount Settle 'Family Ties' Copyright Feud

Law360, Los Angeles (October 26, 2012, 8:54 PM EDT) -- CBS Studios Inc. and Paramount Home Entertainment Inc. have reached a settlement over allegations they breached a copyright licensing deal by including the “Texaco Star Theatre” theme song in DVD releases of the 1980s TV hit “Family Ties,” according to a court filing Friday.

The theme song’s copyright holder Kling Corp. Inc. filed a joint stipulation with CBS and Paramount asking the court to dismiss the case Friday, saying all sides have entered a settlement agreement in the case.
