Stryker Sues Zimmer, Ex-Employee Over Trade Secrets Breach

Law360, New York (October 29, 2012, 5:22 PM EDT) -- Stryker Corp. on Monday launched a trade secrets complaint against Zimmer Inc. and a high-ranking sales official who recently defected to the rival medical device firm, urging a Michigan federal court to block any employment arrangement creating near-term competition with products the worker supervised.

Gregory J. Roche — who reportedly disagrees that his new job violates a noncompete contract — jumped ship earlier this month and took with him a wealth of confidential information on Stryker's pricing strategies and customers, the lawsuit alleges.
