LG Didn't Infringe Backlight Patent, ITC Judge Says

Law360, New York (October 29, 2012, 5:41 PM EDT) -- An administrative judge with the U.S. International Trade Commission has preliminarily ruled that devices imported by LG Corp. didn't infringe a Taiwan-based research group's patent related to backlight modules used in liquid crystal displays.

Administrative Law Judge Theodore R. Essex issued an initial determination Oct. 22 that LG hadn’t violated Section 337 of the Tariff Act of 1930 by importing certain LCD televisions and monitors, products that Taiwan's Industrial Technology Research Institute said had infringed its backlighting technology.
