Heinz's Baby Food Co. Buy Faces Aussie Antitrust Probe

Law360, New York (October 30, 2012, 2:20 PM EDT) -- Australia's competition watchdog said Monday that it is investigating H.J. Heinz Co.'s proposed acquisition of Australian baby food company Rafferty's Garden Pty Ltd. from private equity firm Anacacia Capital Pty Ltd.

The Australian Competition & Consumer Commission posted a letter saying it had launched a probe into whether a proposed deal between the companies would substantially lessen competition in the country's market for baby food.
