Harry Potter And The Infringement Lawsuit

Law360, New York (November 1, 2007, 12:00 AM EDT) -- The author of the Harry Potter novels and the studio that released the films sued a small publisher Wednesday in an effort to deploy the avada kedavra spell — that's the killing curse, for the uninitiated — against a soon-to-be published Potter encyclopedia.

J.K. Rowling and Warner Brothers Entertainment Inc. filed a complaint in the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of New York, seeking a permanent injunction against RDR Books under copyright and trademark laws.
