Enzo Wins $49M Verdict In DNA Labeling Patent Row

Law360, New York (November 1, 2012, 8:04 PM EDT) -- A Connecticut federal jury on Thursday handed down a more than $48.5 million verdict in favor of Enzo Biochem Inc. in finding that Applied Biosystems Inc. infringed its patent relating to labeling and detection methods for DNA and other nucleic acids.

After a weeklong trial, the jury found that ABI had directly and indirectly infringed all five claims of the patent, which relates to the use of nonradioactive labels, according to a copy of the verdict.
