Sprint To Spend $480M For Spectrum, Customers In Midwest

Law360, New York (November 7, 2012, 12:11 PM EST) -- Sprint Nextel Corp. continued Wednesday to crack deeper into the U.S. mobile market, saying it would put up $480 million for a chunk of U.S. Cellular Corp.’s wireless spectrum and customers in the Midwest.

In the deal, Sprint will snatch away about 585,000 customers from its smaller rival, including ones in Chicago and St. Louis as well as in Michigan, Indiana and Ohio. It will also pick up a swath of spectrum to help along high-speed upgrades to its network.
