TI, Others Sued Over Battery Charge Patent

Law360, New York (November 9, 2012, 2:27 PM EST) -- Texas Instruments Inc. and STMicroelectronics NV were among a group of manufacturers sued Wednesday by a Texas-based patent-holding company for allegedly infringing a patent covering a method for charging batteries.

Charge Lion LLC, headquartered in Plano, Texas, sued at least six companies that sell, distribute or import battery charging or battery charger controller IC products, which Charge Lion said infringe U.S. Patent Number 5,543,702. Other targets of the company's latest litigation surge are Linear Technology Corp., Microchip Technology Inc., ST-Ericsson Inc. and Skyworks Solutions Inc....
