Lawmakers Blast Data Brokers For Skimpy Disclosures

Law360, New York (November 8, 2012, 5:16 PM EST) -- A bipartisan group of U.S. representatives on Thursday criticized attempts from Equifax Inc., Experian Information Solutions Inc., and seven other major data brokers to defend their data collection and use practices, saying the companies had failed to answer many of the lawmakers' questions.

In a July letter, six congressmen had questioned Equifax, Experian, Acxiom Corp., Epsilon Data Management LLC, Harte-Hanks Inc., Intelius Inc., Fair Isaac Corp., Merkle Inc. and Meredith Corp. about how they collect and sell consumer information to third parties, including information on children...
