750K Jeeps In US Recalled Over Sudden Airbag Deployments

Law360, New York (November 9, 2012, 2:36 PM EST) -- Chrysler Group LLC is recalling about 750,000 Jeep sport utility vehicles in the U.S. following reports of 50 injuries from airbags deploying spontaneously while the car was being operated normally, the company announced Friday.

The recall comes after a National Highway Transportation Association investigation revealed that problems with the occupant restraint control modules in certain 2002-03 model year Jeep Liberty vehicles and 2002-04 Jeep Grand Cherokees made the SUVs vulnerable to random airbag releases.
