NAD Tells Capital One To Halt Small-Business Card Claims

Law360, New York (November 13, 2012, 3:31 PM EST) -- An advertising industry self-regulator on Tuesday told Capital One Bank NA to discontinue potentially misleading advertisements regarding rewards benefits offered by its small-business Spark cards, though the bank said it would fight the decision.

The National Advertising Division, an investigative unit of the advertising industry's self-regulatory system administered by the Council of Better Business Bureaus, recommended that Capital One discontinue print, broadcast and website advertising suggesting that Spark cards offer the “most rewards,” the “most cash” and the “most miles,” after the ad campaign was challenged...
