Fed. Circ. Restores $15M Patent Verdict Against Maersk

Law360, New York (November 15, 2012, 4:08 PM EST) -- The Federal Circuit reinstated a $15 million infringement verdict against A.P. Moller-Maersk AS on Thursday, reversing a Texas federal judge's post-trial ruling and declaring Transocean Ltd.'s off-shore drilling patents valid.

The appeals court said U.S. District Judge Kenneth M. Hoyt was wrong to throw out an April 2011 jury verdict that found Maersk had infringed Transocean's dual-action drilling equipment patents, ruling the jurors had plenty of evidence to support their decision.
