Captive Insurers Unite To Seek Dodd-Frank Clarification

Law360, New York (November 16, 2012, 3:04 PM EST) -- A coalition of members of the captive insurance industry on Thursday united in an effort to press for legislative clarification of a disputed portion of Dodd-Frank legislation, arguing that captive insurers should not be part of the Nonadmitted and Reinsurance Reform Act.

The newly formed Coalition for Captive Insurance Clarity, under the leadership of the Vermont Captive Insurance Association, will push for legislative language seeking to clarify provisions of the NRRA that it says are unclear, saying such ambiguity could harm the industry.
