Visa Says FTC Wants Info On Debit Card Charges

Law360, New York (November 16, 2012, 7:29 PM EST) -- Visa Inc. said Friday that the Federal Trade Commission's competition bureau had asked the payments provider to voluntarily hand over documents about potential violations of debit card fee rules in the Dodd-Frank Wall Street Reform and Consumer Protection Act.

The agency wants information on Visa's PIN Debit Gateway Service, which involves interchange fees charged to merchants and others on certain debit card transactions, according to a regulatory filing with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission.
