NJ Senate Panel Advances Minimum Wage Hike Proposal

Law360, New York (November 19, 2012, 8:26 PM EST) -- Making good on a recent deal between legislators to increase New Jersey's minimum wage, a state Senate panel Monday cleared an Assembly-backed bill boosting that rate to $8.50 and hitching future increases to the Consumer Price Index.

The Senate had been moving ahead with different legislation that would increase the minimum wage from $7.25 to $8.25 and also provide CPI-based increases, but through a constitutional amendment.
