DOE Floats Hydropower Reforms Amid Heat From Republicans

Law360, New York (November 21, 2012, 6:35 PM EST) -- The U.S. Department of Energy and the Western Area Power Administration issued a set of proposals Tuesday aimed at reforming Western’s hydropower marketing amid electrical grid upgrades, drawing fire from Republicans who claim the measures will drive up electricity prices.

In a Federal Register notice, the DOE and Western’s joint outreach team published a series of recommendations they said would improve Western’s operations and optimize its transmission services.
