Chemical-Laced Aqua Dots Toys Pulled From Shelves

Law360, New York (November 08, 2007, 12:00 AM ET) -- Around 4.2 million sets of the popular arts-and-craft toy Aqua Dots were recalled in the United States on Wednesday after they were found to be coated in a chemical that turns into a powerful date-rape drug when ingested.

Scientists found that the beads in the set contained chemicals that metabolized in the body into gamma hydroxy butyrate, a compound that has been commonly portrayed as a date-rape drug.
