Applera’s Injunction Request Granted Against Bankrupt MJ Research

Law360, New York (September 1, 2005, 12:00 AM EDT) -- In yet another setback for molecular biology company MJ Research Inc., a district judge has granted an injunction request by plaintiff and rival Applera Corp., five months after awarding $35 million in damages for patent infringement.

The order is the latest in litigation originally filed by Connecticut-based Applera against Massachusetts-based MJ Research and its principals, Michael and John Finney, in June 1998 in the U.S. District Court in Connecticut.
