FDA Urged To Give Troubled Compounders A 2nd Look

Law360, New York (November 29, 2012, 6:52 PM EST) -- A consumer advocacy group on Thursday demanded that the U.S. Food and Drug Administration reinspect each compounding pharmacy that has received an FDA warning letter since 2003, to prevent incidents like the meningitis outbreak that has killed dozens.

Public Citizen, in a letter to FDA Commissioner Margaret Hamburg, said that 16 compounding pharmacies in 15 states received warning letters from the FDA between 2003 and 2012, according to public records. The group demanded that the FDA inspect those pharmacies to ensure any problems have been corrected....
