SEC Recommends Civil Suit For West Penn Accounting Errors

Law360, Philadelphia (November 30, 2012, 3:26 PM EST) -- West Penn Allegheny Health System revealed in a quarterly report Thursday that it faces a potential lawsuit from the Securities and Exchange Commission after the commission put it on notice over disclosures from 2009.

The struggling Pittsburgh-based health care provider announced that the SEC issued it a Wells notice Tuesday informing the company that staffers had recommended taking action as a result of an investigation that was launched in 2008.
