Fed. Circ. Revives Deere's Mower Patent Suit

Law360, New York (December 4, 2012, 5:43 PM EST) -- The Federal Circuit on Tuesday breathed new life into tractor maker Deere & Co.'s patent infringement suit against two rivals, finding that a lower court erred in constructing part of a patent covering rotary cutters.

A three-judge panel reversed a district court's ruling that the targets of Deere's suit, Bush Hog LLC and Great Plains Manufacturing Inc., did not infringe U.S. Patent Number 6,052,980, which covers technology used in dual-deck rotary cutters that can be pulled behind tractors to mow wide swaths of growth.
