EU Accuses Russia Of Not Meeting WTO Pledges

Law360, New York (December 5, 2012, 1:58 PM EST) -- The European Union's trade chief said Wednesday that Russia was not complying with its free trade commitments to the World Trade Organization, warning that the EU might file a formal complaint against the new WTO member.

Trade Commissioner Karel De Gucht said Russia has unacceptable fees and tariffs on a number of items, including imported cars, and unfairly gives incentives to its wood producers to sell their products domestically. The country's ban on European livestock was also a “clear-cut breach,” he added.
