House Dem Pushes For Health IT Funding, New FDA Office

Law360, Washington (December 6, 2012, 6:38 PM EST) -- A House Democrat from California proposed a bill Monday that would create a new wireless health office at the U.S. Food and Drug Administration and increase financial support to the health care industry, claiming additional grants and incentives could bolster innovation.

Rep. Mike Honda introduced the Healthcare Innovation and Marketplace Technologies Act, which would create an Office of Wireless Health to help coordinate regulations affecting the mobile health industry as well as challenge grants and a prize program to encourage mobile application growth.
