Apple, Others Face New Wi-LAN Suits Over Wireless Patents

Law360, New York (December 7, 2012, 4:13 PM EST) -- Wi-LAN Inc. expanded its efforts Thursday to protect its patent portfolio, filing suits against Apple Inc., HTC Corp. and Sierra Wireless America Inc. in Texas and Florida federal courts that allege infringement of the licensing company's wireless patents.

Wi-LAN filed separate patent infringement suits against Apple, HTC and Sierra in Florida while suing just Apple and Sierra in Texas, having previously sued HTC in that venue in 2010, a dispute that remains ongoing.
