The Anticipated US Ascension To Hague Agreement

Law360, New York (December 7, 2012, 3:18 PM EST) -- The United States is on the cusp of enacting legislation that will likely lead to U.S. ascension to the Hague Agreement Concerning the International Registration of Industrial Designs.

The Hague Agreement, whose current contracting parties include the European Union, African Intellectual Property Organization (OAPI) and 58 countries, establishes an international design application procedure that is analogous in many ways to the international application procedures for utility patents under the Patent Cooperation Treaty (PCT) and trademark registrations under the Madrid Protocol.
