Increase In Doctor Use Of E-Records 'Encouraging,' HHS Says

Law360, New York (December 12, 2012, 5:41 PM EST) -- Almost three-quarters of U.S. doctors have adopted some form of electronic health records, compared to fewer than half in 2009, the administration's health information technology department reported Wednesday, a trend the department's director called encouraging.

According to a data brief released by the Office of the National Coordinator of Health Information Technology, or ONC, 72 percent of doctors had adopted e-records as of this year. That's up from 48 percent in 2009, when Congress approved a law creating the ongoing incentive program for adopting e-records....
