HHS Accused Of 'Bait And Switch' On Medicaid Blended Rate

Law360, New York (December 13, 2012, 5:18 PM EST) -- High-ranking Republican lawmakers Thursday accused the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services of not being entirely forthcoming when it said this week it would not support a proposal that would lower the federal government's contributions to Medicaid.

The lawmakers accused HHS of pulling a “bait and switch” to convince states, wary of future Medicaid cuts, to expand their Medicaid programs, with no guarantee the agency won't seek similar cuts in the future.
