Philly Firefighters Lose Bid To Halt Transfer Policy

Law360, Philadelphia (December 14, 2012, 8:37 PM EST) -- A Pennsylvania judge declined Friday to stop a plan to impose involuntary transfers on Philadelphia's unionized firefighters, rejecting the union's claim that imposing the transfers as scheduled in January would irreparably damage the fire department's ability to control fires.

The firefighters had also claimed the transfers, expected to affect 95 senior firefighters, violated a collective bargaining agreement and sought to halt the implementation until the issue went to binding arbitration.
