High Court Asked To Uphold Marriage Definition

Law360, Los Angeles (January 22, 2013, 11:00 PM EST) -- The Bipartisan Legal Advisory Group of the U.S. House of Representatives urged the U.S. Supreme Court on Tuesday to maintain a federal law that defines marriage as a union between a man and a woman, ahead of arguments in two same-sex marriage cases in March. 

In its brief supporting the Defense of Marriage Act, the group says the court should apply rational basis review in making its decision on Section 3 of the law, which effectively restricts federal benefits to heterosexual married couples. The government's choice...
