Fed. Circ. Junks Antitrust Claims In Slot Machine Suit

Law360, New York (December 17, 2012, 8:58 PM EST) -- The Federal Circuit on Monday affirmed the dismissal of Bally Gaming Inc.'s antitrust claim accusing rival International Game Technology of instigating patent lawsuits to corner the market for slot machines featuring a spinning-wheel bonus game, ruling specialized slots don't form a distinct gambling market.

In a 2-1 decision, the Federal Circuit said a lower court had properly nixed Bally's antitrust allegations because spinning-wheel slot machines compete with all other machines on the casino floor that are vying for gamblers' money with unique gimmicks and games....
