11th Circ. Says FDCPA Exempts Property Co.'s Water Shutoff

Law360, New York (December 20, 2012, 2:27 PM EST) -- The Eleventh Circuit on Wednesday upheld the dismissal of a class action brought by a group of homeowners whose water was shut off by a management company because of unpaid utility fees, finding that a Fair Debt Collection Practices Act exemption protects companies whose main function is not debt collection.
