Gasket Co. Asks Justices To Hear Maritime Asbestos Case

Law360, New York (December 21, 2012, 6:27 PM EST) -- Gasketmaker John Crane Inc. is urging the U.S. Supreme Court to nullify a $2 million award for the family of a repairman who died from asbestos exposure from his maintenance work on U.S. Navy ships, arguing that general maritime law does not permit damages for predeath pain and suffering.
