Glaxo Silenced Avandia Critic: Senate Report

Law360, New York (November 16, 2007, 12:00 AM EST) -- Drug maker GlaxoSmithKline has come under fire with the release of a damaging U.S. Senate report accusing the pharmaceutical giant of intimidating a research scientist who dared speak out against diabetes drug Avandia.

The Senate Finance Committee report, which was placed in the Congressional record Thursday, claims Glaxo embarked on an orchestrated campaign to muzzle the independent doctor, John Buse, after the diabetes specialist linked the drug to heart damage.
