NY Times Loses Bid For Gov't Docs On Terrorist Killings

Law360, New York (January 2, 2013, 6:27 PM EST) -- The federal government does not have to turn over documents on the legality of killing individuals linked with terrorist groups to The New York Times, a federal judge ruled Wednesday, saying her hands are tied by the law.

U.S. District Judge Colleen McMahon ruled that New York Times reporters Charlie Savage and Scott Shane are not entitled to classified government analyses that might outline a possible legal basis for the government's secretive campaign of drone attacks against suspected terrorists.
