NJ Man Cops To $200M Real Estate Investment Scam

Law360, Los Angeles (January 3, 2013, 10:14 PM EST) -- Eliyahu “Eli” Weinstein pled guilty in a New Jersey federal court on Thursday to charges that he and other co-conspirators cheated members of the Orthodox Jewish community out of $200 million in a real estate investment Ponzi scheme.

Just days before a Jan. 7 trial date, Weinstein’s admission on Thursday closes the book on allegations that the Lakewood, N.J.-resident, who was first charged in 2010, headed a multimillion-dollar investment scheme for seven years and then laundered the invested funds.
