FCC Approves Liberty Media's Long-Awaited Sirius Takeover

Law360, New York (January 4, 2013, 5:06 PM EST) -- The Federal Communications Commission approved Liberty Media Corp.'s bid to fully take over Sirius XM Radio Inc., Liberty said late Thursday, finally winning out in a monthslong battle for control of the satellite radio operator.

The company expects to nail down its buy within 60 days, it said in a brief statement. Liberty did not specify how it would pay for the roughly 50 percent chunk of Sirius that it does not already own. In August, the company unveiled plans to sell its Starz cable network...
