Pa. Pol Sues NCAA For Oversight Of $60M Penn State Fine

Law360, Philadelphia (January 7, 2013, 6:45 PM EST) -- A Pennsylvania lawmaker asked a state court Monday to stop the National Collegiate Athletic Association from allowing $60 million in fines levied against Penn State University following the Jerry Sandusky sex-abuse scandal to fund child-abuse prevention programs across the country without state legislative oversight.

The preliminary injunction motion filed in the Pennsylvania Commonwealth Court claimed that the NCAA was attempting to hijack money from the largely state-funded school to support programs with no direct connection to the state and without any say by elected officials....
