Hilda Solis Stepping Down As Labor Secretary

Law360, New York (January 9, 2013, 9:09 PM EST) -- Labor Secretary Hilda Solis announced Wednesday that she is stepping down, leaving a vacancy for President Barack Obama to fill at the top of the U.S. Department of Labor.

In a letter to the Labor Department's employees, Solis said she had submitted her resignation letter to the president Wednesday afternoon after deciding during the holidays to leave her position “to begin a new future and return to the people and places I love and that have inspired and shaped my life.”
