Pa. High Court Won't Halt Justice's Corruption Prosecution

Law360, New York (January 10, 2013, 5:44 PM EST) -- Suspended Pennsylvania Supreme Court Justice Joan Orie Melvin on Thursday lost her bid to stop prosecutors from pursuing corruption charges alleging she used state-funded staff for political work, after the state's high court denied her request.

The Pennsylvania Supreme Court denied Melvin's petition for extraordinary relief in a one-sentence order that came down the same day the Allegheny County District Attorney's Office urged the court to deny Melvin's petition.
